We help children of all backgrounds, even in the most dangerous places, inspired by our Christian faith.Come join our 31,000+ staff working in nearly 100 countries and share the joy of transforming vulnerable children’s life stories!Employee Contract Type: Local - Fixed Term Employee (Fixed Term)Job Description:Applications close on: May 27th, 2026JOB PURPOSEThe Purpose of the Country Program Director of World Vision (WV) Dominican Republic position is to lead a new organizational model focused on establishing WV as a platform for wide impact and relevance in the lives of the most vulnerable children in the Dominican Republic.This role is responsible for co-leading and strengthening the team (with the participation of the Cluster Director and team), especially its leadership, for appropriate and timely decision-making and risk & opportunities identification and management.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESA. External Engagement / Resource developmentIn Alignment with our Christian Identity, strategy and core values:
  • Represent WV and engage and build strategic alliances with the Governments, major donor agencies, local donors, WV Partnership, non-governmental agencies, churches and media.
  • Position WV as a reputable Christian organization delivering impactful changes for children in alignment to the country strategy and fundraising plan with target market segments, donors, supporters, and government/institutional stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new and innovative fundraising models to leverage sustainability and manage local income growth.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of a self-sustainability plan.
  • Lead the alignment of fundraising and programming for coordinated design and promotion of products and programs.
  • Ensure that all fundraising models have an implementation model assigned through partners (end-to-end).
  • Ensure the leadership or participation of the National Office (NO) in the cluster´s sustainability strategy, plan, or initiatives.
  • Ensure the strengthening of the digital technologies approach for fundraising and look into diversification of the funding portfolio.
  • Ensure high grant management standards (reporting, procurement, visibility, transfer of assets, audit, etc.) are understood & applied by NO.
  • Develop and lead the institutional external communications strategy, which allows strengthening, establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic business intelligence to proactively identify new opportunities for resources, in line with the strategic priorities.
  • Establishment of strategic partnerships with organizations that share our Core values and identity at the local or international level.
B. Impact: Programming and Advocacy
  • Position Children prioritization through advocacy and external engagement with different partners.
  • Position World Vision as a key partner in child protection in the Dominican Republic.
  • Ensure a strong network for advocacy and public incidence.
  • Ensure core programming models and systems are in place so that projects are managed on time and on budget in achieving the desired impact on WV´s Results for Children.
  • Ensure the highest standards of quality and accountability through compliance with World Vision policies and standards and international standards for emergency response, disaster mitigation, rehabilitation and development.
  • Ensure adequate compliance with country plans and their respective reporting through KPIs and current global systems.
  • Ensure that systems are in place so that projects run by partners comply with the WV promise to donors.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new and innovative program models to leverage Impact\, Sustainability and Influence.
  • Leading the response in emergency situations for raising financial resources the proper management of it.
C. Leadership
  • Model and promote our Christian identity reflected in our WV’s Vision, Mission, Core Values and key Partnership Standards and Practices among the staff and partners and ensure these are the core foundation of the National Office strategy and work.
  • Lead (with the direction of the Cluster Director) the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and ensure diverse representation on the leadership team.
  • Strong focus on leadership and people development and management, ensuring the most capable and qualified staff members are in place to implement office strategy and operational plans.
  • Lead and manage the team in a way that facilitates a high-performance culture focused on delivery of impact; open trustworthy relationships centred on reconciliation; learning and development; good stewardship and integrity; servant leadership; staff and asset safety in fragile contexts; agility and continuous improvement; and gender/age/ethnic diversity.
  • Lead the SLT to model living our faith with boldness and humility through a high standard of personal Christian leadership, ministry and integrity through lifestyle and work relationships.
  • Implement intentional capacity building for local staff, ensuring successor building is prioritized by all areas.
  • Lead change management according to internal policies and external market practices in a way that change projects are implemented on time with timely and clear communication and staff engagement.
D. Strategy and redesign
  • Lead the National Redesign so that it allows impact and relevance and is executed based on the times established for the compliance of "Our Promise" global strategy.
  • Facilitate and be accountable for the execution and monitoring of strategies and plans of functions.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership in integrated operations with internal and external stakeholders and ensure fluid and successful change management around integrated operations.
E. Stewardship Excellence and Governance
  • Promote and model a high level of transparency, integrity and zero tolerance for fraud.
  • Ensure efficient and effective organizational practices that result in successful financial and operational audit scores.
  • Ensure and oversee the proper mechanisms for the implementation of Child and Adult Safeguarding and other WVI standards and principles.
  • Assess, develop, mitigate and manage risks to office operations, staff, assets and programs.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with government standards and laws for WV operations.
  • Ensure the NO's appropriate accountability.
F. Collaborative Model and Twin Citizenship
  • Act as a "Twin Citizen", ensuring that the NO participates in regional and global processes and decisions and allocates resources and talent where most needed in the country, region or Partnership.
  • Contribute to the Partnership, understand its systems and priorities, act as a global leader and a Twin Citizen.
  • Ensure WV is positioned as a leading NGO in promoting the well-being and rights of children within the country to develop public and stakeholders’ confidence and trust.
  • Ensure the NOs appropriate contribution and engagement in the Cluster´s strengthening.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
  • At least five (5) years of senior management experience.
  • Master’s degree in Sustainability, Marketing, Development or similar.
  • Sound and proven experience in fundraising with ambitious targets.
  • Sound and proven experience in programming and business.
  • Experience working with external partners in a local context.
  • Experience in combining slow and fast onset programs—ability to juggle emergency response with long-term transformational development.
  • A strong commitment to the mission, ethos and core values of World Vision.

Language Requirements:
  • Fluency/high level of professional and technical spoken and written Spanish and English.
Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement:
  • The position requires the ability and willingness to travel nationally and/or internationally up to 30% of the time.
