- Build and maintain features across our core insurance platform — quoting, policy management, broker-facing workflows, and third-party data integrations (e.g., KYND).
- Contribute to AI-powered underwriting tools that analyze cyber risk signals and surface actionable insights, championing data integrity and system reliability throughout.
- Write clean, well-tested, and well-documented code across the full stack in collaboration with senior engineers.
- Participate in design discussions and architectural decisions with a security-conscious mindset, consistent with our SOC 2 compliance posture.
- Partner closely with underwriting and actuarial teams to translate domain requirements into robust technical implementations.
- Drive continuous improvement through active code reviews, identification of technical debt, and a commitment to engineering quality and scalability.
- 2–5 years of professional software engineering experience in a production environment.
- Proficiency in Python and TypeScript with React/Next.js; comfortable owning work across the full stack.
- Deep command of software engineering principles: clean code, SOLID, design patterns, and API-first thinking.
- Strong grasp of relational databases, GraphQL API design, data modeling, and distributed systems concepts.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, data pipelines, or third-party data integrations.
- Security-conscious mindset — you write code with data integrity, access control, and SOC 2 compliance in mind from the start.
- Ability to articulate technical tradeoffs clearly to non-engineering stakeholders like underwriters and actuaries.
- Genuine intellectual curiosity about the intersection of technology, data, and risk — you want to understand the business, not just the codebase.
- Competency with AWS, Docker, Apache Airflow, Neo4j, and CDNs.
- Experience in insurance, fintech, or other regulated, data-intensive industries.
- Familiarity with AI/ML integrations, LLM APIs, or building intelligence into production workflows.
- Knowledge of cyber risk concepts: threat intelligence, vulnerability scoring, and security posture assessment.
- Exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or other compliance frameworks as an active engineering contributor.
- Prior experience at an insurtech, MGA, or early-stage startup scaling a technical platform.
